Where Is The Best Place To Stay In Tarangire National Park?

Tarangire National Park and its surroundings boast a selection of luxurious lodges and tented camps that cater to individual preferences, so your tour operator will help you select the one most suited to you and your specific requirements.

  • Swala Camp

Swala Camp lies within Tarangire’s borders and features an idyllic location amid an enclave of massive acacia trees near Gurusi wetlands and an expanse of open savannah. A classic safari retreat, Swala offers unparalleled wildlife viewing opportunities, luxurious amenities, and the feel of being immersed in Africa itself.

The camp boasts an exquisite setting in one of Tanzania’s least-visited national parks, filled with ancient baobab trees and abundant wildlife – creating an unforgettable destination. Built to stringent eco-friendly standards, its main lodge and library stand on stilts overlooking a waterhole, drawing elephants and big cats alike into its fold.

  • Oliver’s Camp

Oliver’s Camp is a ten-tent camp located in an inaccessible corner of Tarangire National Park. Part of the popular Northern Tanzania Safari circuit, which also includes Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti, it offers guests an unforgettable stay.

Camp is great any time of year, but the peak months for elephant herds to traverse are June through October, when massive herds search for food in Silale swamp. Herbivorous animals, such as elephants as well as predatory species like lions and wild dogs, also congregate here to feed.

  • Tarangire Treetops

Elevated “treehouse” suites surrounded by marula and baobab trees create an adventurous, exotic ambiance at this lodge. The dining area features an enormous millennial baobab while it also overlooks a water source regularly visited by park animals.

Tarangire Treetops’ 20 treehouses bring back memories of childhood treehouses with rejuvenating views. Each room is spacious and luxurious, featuring bathrooms that blend into their surroundings seamlessly.

  • Chem Chem Camp

Chem Chem offers eight tent rooms (and one family tent) designed to maximize privacy, each equipped with two outdoor areas: a raised stone veranda with table, chairs, and sunloungers and an adjacent decked area equipped with cushioned daybeds – as well as its own swimming pool!

Chem Chem Luxury Camp is situated on a private concession adjacent to Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara, offering guests outstanding wildlife viewing both within its reserve as well as both parks. A key focus here is elephant conservation – Chem Chem has pioneered an initiative that works towards mitigating human-elephant conflict by educating locals and training “lion scouts.”

  • Maramboi Camp

Maramboi Tented Camp offers incredible wildlife viewing opportunities between Tarangire and Lake Manyara, boasting superb wildlife-watching conditions on the migratory corridor between them. Here, visitors can witness migrating herds of wildebeests and zebras being pursued by predators while thrilling game drives and nature walks are also on offer here.

Tented camp tents are situated around timber decks that offer stunning views of Lake Manyara, Tanzanian Savannas, and Ol Doinyo Lengai Volcano. Additionally, this lodge provides exceptional services with personalized attention and genuine hospitality.

  • Balloon Camp

Balloon Camp, situated near Boundary Hill and offering some of the most spectacular views in Tarangire, features ten luxury safari tents equipped with king-size beds and large open-plan bathrooms for guest accommodation.

Staying connected via social media and emails with free Wi-Fi at this caravan park is made easy, while there is also an onsite restaurant and bar, parking available for those driving their own vehicle, and some rooms featuring balconies or terraces for added comfort.
