You’ve bought the khaki shorts and that waistcoat with all the pockets, you’ve invested in the bird identification books, and you know a few words of an exotic African tribal language—and you want to use them, god-dammit. You need to try something a little different.
Those were the opening lines of our first website in 1997. We have mellowed with age, but the idea has not changed: find the place where the safari still feels like a safari.

When we launched our first website in 1997, “Off the Beaten Track” was the phrase we used. Tanzania has changed enormously since then and finding that exclusive corner of wilderness takes more work—but we still do the work.
